The Jacksonville Jaguars today acquired a potential backup quarterback in Cody Kessler for a conditional 7th round pick according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Jaguars did not have a backup quarterback on the roster until this move.

Kessler was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL draft. In his rookie season he completely 65.6% of his passes for 1,380 yards and six touchdowns and two interceptions in 9 games as the starter.
This is a good move for the Jaguars as Kessler has some potential at least to be a long-term backup option. This move, however, should not hinder the Jaguars from drafting a quarterback early in the draft for added competition.
We will update this story as more information becomes available.
